緬甸民主領袖及諾貝爾和平獎得主翁山蘇姬遭緬甸政府羈押於仰光硬心監獄，等候審判。各國政府與國會議員已經紛紛發表聲明。

美國參議員Feinstein及Hutchison發表共同聲明，公開譴責緬甸政府將民主領袖翁山蘇姬羅織罪名並予以羈押候審，是違反人權的行為。兩位參議員在聲明中指出，翁山蘇姬是經由合法的民主選舉而當選的緬甸領袖，緬甸軍政府應該無條件釋放翁山蘇姬。
翁山蘇姬無須因他人非法潛入住屋事件受審。緬甸政府指控翁山蘇姬牽涉此事的作法，並非基於事實，亦無法律依據（baseless and without merit）。我們要求緬甸政府立即釋放所有緬甸政治犯。上述兩位也發起美國國會女性議員共同聯署，譴責緬甸政府違反人權，並且重申支持因追求自由而遭監禁的翁山蘇姬。

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) today denounced the new trumped-up charges brought against Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratically elected leader of Burma. The Senators, who Co-Chair the Senate Women’s Caucus on Burma, also renewed calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Suu Kyi and all Burmese political prisoners.
Following is a joint statement from Senators Feinstein and Hutchison: “We are deeply concerned about the announcement that Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratically elected leader of Burma, will stand trial on charges of violating her house arrest. The accusations against her are baseless and without merit. This court case represents yet another desperate attempt on the part of the despotic military junta to silence her voice and stifle the will of the people of Burma who overwhelmingly support Suu Kyi and her call for democracy, human rights, and the rule of law for Burma. We once again express our solidarity with Suu Kyi and her cause of freedom. We strongly urge that Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners be released immediately and unconditionally.”
